River Valley Local Schools understands that military families face unique challenges, and we are committed to providing the support and resources you need to succeed. Whether you’re transitioning to a our area, adjusting to a deployment, or simply looking for information to help you and your student excel, this page is here to guide you.

Our school community is proud to support our military families and we are applying to be a Purple Star School, a designation that reflects our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. Here, you’ll find a variety of resources, from educational support and counseling services to community programs and events designed specifically for military families.

Family Resources

The Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission

The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission purpose is to facilitate timely enrollment of K-12 students in schools during any point in an academic year due to Active Duty assignments of the U.S. Armed Forces. The MIC3 looks to remove barriers due to variations in local school districts and states.

Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC)

We help children growing up in military families by providing them, their parents, and professionals with programs, resources, and guidance—helping the child stay on course academically, socially, and emotionally.

Military One Source

Military OneSource is a confidential and comprehensive resource available to members of the U.S. military community, including service members, veterans, and their families. Their mission is to provide support, information, and resources to enhance the well-being and readiness of military personnel and their loved ones.

Ohio Military Kids (OMK)

Ohio Military Kids (OMK) is a collaboration between the Ohio National Guard and The Ohio State University’s 4-H Youth Development Program. The goal of OMK is to create community support networks for military youth when they experience a loved one’s deployment. 

Blue Star Families

Blue Star Neighborhood is the nation’s largest digital community solely focused on supporting military-connected families. It is where members, located around the world, can gather in a virtual setting to enjoy all that Blue Star Families has to offer.

Veteran's Resources

Marion County Veterans Service Office

Assists in making applications for benefits administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), emergency financial assistance and information and guidance in obtaining aid from various federal, state and local organizations.

Veterans Crisis Line

If you’re a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one, contact the Veterans Crisis Line to receive 24/7, confidential support. You don’t have to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to connect.

Hidden Heroes

The Hidden Heroes Campaign is the flagship public awareness campaign of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation bringing vital attention to the untold stories of military and veteran caregivers and seeking solutions for the tremendous challenges and long-term needs they face.
