Mr. Edwards Students Celebrate America 250

During our month on "How America Moves: Transportation Exploration," students in Mr Edwards' Geography class present in small groups on famous migrations throughout American History.

Migrant wagon trains during the Gold Rush, steamships packed with immigrants at the start of 20th century, even their own two feet during the Trail of Tears; Americans have moved across our nation in many different ways, and for just as many reasons.

Juniors participate in All Junior Planning Day

Our juniors participated in All Junior Planning Day (an event coordinated by RVHS in partnership with The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College), engaging in hands-on sessions focused on college, career, and military pathways to better prepare for their senior year and beyond. Through interactive activities and conversations with professionals and current students, they gained valuable insight to help guide their next steps after high school.

Students Visit University of Akron Campus

Students had the opportunity to recently learn about campus life and student opportunities at the University of Akron. 

University of Toledo Campus Visit

River Valley students recently visited University of Toledo, where they gained a firsthand look at college academics, campus life, and support systems. Students commented that this visit helped them realize that college is both exciting and within reach. Bonus: we ran into RV alum, Eva Moran!

DNA Strands in Ms. Triplat's Class

Students made DNA strands over the course of the last couple of weeks in Ms. Triplat's class. 

FFA Banquet

RVHS recently held their annual FFA banquet. This event celebrates and recognizes the accomplishment of the chapter during the 2025-26 school year, and also hands over the chapter to the leadership group for the 2026-27 school year. Thank you to all who participated and planned this wonderful event.

RV Baseball/Softball for Youth - Summer Work Opportunity

The River Valley Baseball for Youth Complex is looking for students who would be interested in working part time at the Complex for the 2026 season. Wages and hours are based upon seniority and availability.

Concession stands workers include: cashiers, prep work, and light cleaning of the concession area both during the week and tournaments.

Field work positions include: Lining the fields and setting bases/pitching mounds, light field maintenance, trash pick up, etc.

If you are interested in becoming an umpire for baseball or softball games, LET US KNOW! We can get you set up with our Umpire in Chief for any available games on a fill-in or regular basis.

RVHS Music Boosters Fundraiser - 4/26

Drive to Succeed Grant - North Central Ohio ESC

The NCOESC has received a $1.5 million grant to provide driver training scholarships for eligible new drivers.

There are some qualifying requirements, such as age, financial status, and residency/custodial circumstances  (must be SNAP eligible or in county custody).

Students interested in being a volunteer poll worker for the next election should swing by the office and see Mr. Stout. This is for students who are 18, or will be 18, before the next election, and are registered to vote.

MTC Meeting Opportunity

She will be at RV in the Counseling Office on April 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and April 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about programs offered at Marion Technical College, explore career pathways, and register for courses offered at MTC next year.

Welding Internship Opportunity

There is a student internship position available for a Student Welder Intern at Eagles Crusher.

The pay rate for this internship is $16/hour. The projected start date is Summer

The work location is 523 E. Southern Ave. Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.

All students 16+ are eligible for this opportunity. 

All students are eligible to receive their OhioMeansJobs Workforce Readiness Seal through SOCHE internships!

Summer Camps at OSU-M / MTC

Ohio Health Will Host Career Camp

OhioHealth will be hosting a one-day Healthcare Career Camp at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital on Monday, June 29th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

This experience is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors and will provide hands-on exposure to a variety of in-demand healthcare careers, including:

Nursing - Medical Imaging - Respiratory Therapy - Medical Laboratory - Surgical Technology

There is no cost for students to participate. However, students must apply using the QR code included on the flyer posted above

. Applications will be accepted March 30 through April 15, 2026, and selected students will be notified following the close of the application period. Please note that students must be at least 16 years old to participate. We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity with students who may be interested.

Cell Phones @ RVHS
Students will not be permitted to use their cell phones at all during the school day this year (7:30 AM - 2:50 PM). There are exceptions for special circumstances, such as documented medical or learning needs specific to each student, and those items will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the HS administrative team. Please contact Mr. Stout directly if you have any questions about our cell phone policy for the 2025-26 school year. 

RV Weather/Critical Alerts
Should your family have anyone who is not listed on your students emergency contact list (grandparents, babysitters, etc.), but needs to receive text, call, and email alerts when we are delayed or canceled, plus other critical/weather-based updates from the district, we have a form they can complete to be added to our guest list.

Completing this form will not give them regular building updates or other notifications from groups, only weather/critical alerts.

Attendance Procedures
Parents need to ensure that within five school days of each absence they are sending in a parent note, or some kind of documentation from an appointment, in order to remove the absent-unexcused designation on student absences. Students can drop these notes off in the main office. Absences that do not have a note after five days will remain as absent-unexcused.
